Get the Picture: Audition Shoots

Is it just us, or are you also finding yourself diving back into the hustle full force?

With the world inching back to “normal,” it’s easy to put extra pressure on ourselves to be where we were (or, better thanwhere we were a year ago).

Even if you’ve been training and taking class virtually from your home, finally getting to do grand allegro across the floor, lacing up your LaDuca boots, or really seeing yourself in a full-length mirror might be…humbling, to say the least.

We’re SO happy to be back in action and it’s important to give ourselves a little lot of grace right now.

Leave the judgment at the door.
Your body has carried you through a global pandemic.
Be gentle with yourself through this process.

Just as dance studios have begun to open their doors for limited-capacity classes, it seems like auditions and castings are already popping up on the calendar. Don’t panic! We’re here not only to support, but also to walk alongside you as we navigate this road together.

This period of slow and steady revitalization is about reviving our industry at large and also about transforming each of us internally, too.

Last month we talked all about branding—looking inward at your values, talents, and aspirations and building a roadmap to begin manifesting your goals. This fresh start is the perfect opportunity to lay the groundwork and get back in the game with a clearer mindset and revived sense of purpose.

Can I get a 5, 6, 7, 8?

Wait…Pause.

Now, it may have been over a year since you last attended an audition. Are you the same person you were 12 months ago?No. And before you beat yourself up about that, remember None of us are the same people we were last year—not physically, mentally, nor emotionally. Maybe you love that. Maybe you’re not so happy about that. In either case, we need to embrace where we are right now in order to manifest growth, change, and opportunity.

May’s mantra?

Don’t look back, you’re not going that way.

Onward and upward!

Once you’ve done the internal work, it’s time to lay out a plan of attack. As we talked about last week, to cultivate your brand, you’ll need to create content. And for dancers (who are visual performing artists), that means it’s time for a photoshoot! This is an act of showing up, accepting where you are at present, and positioning yourself (literally and figuratively) to manifest your dancing dreams.

Scheduling a photoshoot can be exciting.
It can also be terrifying.

This month, we’re walking you through all the steps to make your shoot a success and the launch pad for a brand-new chapter. When it comes to preparation, performance, and post-productions, we’ll help you rock your next photoshoot.

Don’t wait – Book your shoot with us today!
